The spoon rest is a very nice looking piece that dresses up my kitchen, and my wife is of Polish descent, hence I had two reasons to buy the item.The base of the spoon rest is uneven - the long 'tail-piece' is about .030" (1 mm) higher than the base of the 'bowl' part of the rest - it doesn't touch the countertop, which allows the spoon rest to easily rotate freely. Also, the bowl base isn't flat. It has a little bit of concave profile - higher on the front and back than the sides. Therefore, it 'rests' on two contact points at the front and rear of the spoon rest bowl, but the lack of bowl flatness allows it to wobble side-to-side.As a decorator item, it's good, but as a functional item, it's unacceptable.I contacted the vendor who stated that circumstance is attributable to the way the item is made, and offered to accept a return via Amazon. I'll do that if I still have the original shipping materials.Toyman
