I bought this bag before heading to Portugal, and this was a great choice. It's simple and stylish, but incredibly functional and sturdy. It features the standard candy-stripe interior that you would find in all Herschel products, but the all-black bag I got offers a sleek look.It is well-padded and comfortable, and the magnet strap clips (not sure of their official name) is very handy for easy access.Really satisfied, good quality.The bag arrived in perfect condition, its not that wide but still is ok, my 14'' laptop just fit very well in the laptop pocket, I just fill like is missing a small pocket inside just to put some littler things.This is my go-to overnight bag for work. I can fit my laptop and 2 days worth of clothes. It fits so much more than you think!Really sturdy. I like the magnetic clips. My laptop fits in the sleeve 15". I put in my 3 notebooks, my mouse & ergonomic keyboard and pencil pouch but it has room for a bit more although if you fill it up it might not close. I wish it had a zipper at the top to out things in the front pocket is a nice size but I would put anything that might fall out in there. I wish it had a side pocket for a water bottle. I don't know how useful this would be for traveling maybe if it's the personal item but not a carry-on type bag. For a school backpack/commuter bag should do great! I can’t fit a lot of stuff inside. I know there were some reviews about the lack of space but I honestly don’t understand how. I added a picture of some stuff I wanted to fit in on my first try and there was plenty of room after that. I can carry my laptop and daily stuff and a jacket and my coffee mug and my water bottle/jug and still have room. So much room.2. It is not hard to locate your stuff. Seriously I’m not especially organized and I can reach in there and find whatever I’m looking for quickly. If you need your wallet often put it on top or spend literally 15 seconds looking for it.3. The front pocket is not useless. I put some cheap sunglasses and my car keys in there. Haven’t lost any of that. For my important small stuff I have a little pouch I got with my laptop sleeve I stick in there.4. I added a picture of the new/not fully loaded backpack on my back. I’m 5’ 2 and a little chubby but it fits fine. It’s taller rather then fatter so it feels and looks a little different on the back.5. Not quite rain resistant. I’ve walked through some rain and it has gotten wet but not soaked. Stuff ok on the inside though. I wouldn’t walk through a rain shower with it.6. Drawstring with flap is nice and a little bit more difficult for pickpockets. Good quality.7. If your package doesn’t quite look like mine you’ve likely gotten an imitator or knock-off. I’m pretty sure I didn’t have that issue based on the tags and bag and emblem all being present and looking correct. Buy from amazon directly if you can.In deciding to go back to school, my beloved Jack Spade canvas briefcase from my industry job just wasn't going to cut it anymore. I needed something that could hold my laptop and charger, as well as books and binders, but I didn't want to go all the way backwards into high school JanSport land. I was glad I found this backpack, which looks stylish (surprisingly hard to achieve in a backpack) and does most of the things I need it to do.You sacrifice quite a bit of functionality, though. The built-in padded laptop sleeve does fit my 15" Macbook Pro, but the last few inches stick out the top and are protected only by the thin outer shell — which is to say, not at all. I have to be careful not to hit that part of the backpack on anything for fear of audibly striking the laptop. Aside from the laptop sleeve and main compartment, there is only a tiny pocket on the front (probably about 6" square, no zipper) and a very narrow pouch on the inside. The inside pouch is clearly meant to house a couple of pens, and the outer pocket... also holds pens, because I wouldn't risk putting anything more valuable there for fear that it'd fall out. I wish there were a medium sized pocket that could hold a cell phone, small notebook, some Altoids, etc. — as it is, all that stuff is just jumbled together at the bottom of the main compartment.The top flips open to reveal a drawstring closure, which becomes annoying over time. To close it, you have to pull the string, slide the plastic fastener to tighten, then flap the top part over and try to match the two magnetic fasteners so they click shut. (The buckles are thankfully just for show.) This doesn't seem like such an ordeal, but I've started to wish for the simplicity of a zip top backpack. With zip top backpacks, you can also swing it around to your front side in order to quickly pull something out. Not so with this one; you have to take the whole thing off to rummage around inside.Other than that, it's nice and roomy, doesn't weigh much on its own, and the straps fit comfortably. The red and white stripe interior is a little goofy for my tastes, but it provides the advantage of allowing you to see inside clearly, unlike most bags that have black interiors. It's hard to overstate how useful this is, especially because (as I mentioned before) all of my smaller stuff has to go in the big compartment. Overall, it's about as professional-looking a backpack you can get without paying hundreds of dollars for a Filson one or something made of heavy leather, but is pretty bare bones as far as functionality goes.Be warned: if you haven't seen everyone and their mom carrying around this backpack, you will once you start wearing it yourself. It's very popular (for a reason, I suppose).My previous Herschel back broke after 5 years of rough use, and this bag looks like it'll last just as long. I wasn't sure as it's much cheaper than on the Herschel site but it seems genuine. The colour is a little darker than I was expecting but still looks greatThought I would fork out a little and buy myself a Herschel, after my last cheapo bag had expired. Seen them around on many a back in town. Was a little bigger than I had imagined, more of a serious hiker's rucksack butrs available. great for my gym kit and some business stuff. But a great range of fabric textures and colours available.This bag is a really lovely bit of luggage for a casual weekend away! It is easy to cram a washbag, a laptop and clothes in for a couple of nights away!. There is not a way to secure the bag with a lock so not something I can use on a daily basis as I carry my laptop everywhere but love it non the less!A new backpack for my teenage girl. She is very satisfied with this backpack. Her school only allows black or grey bags. This bag is black but has the leather-looking pvc straps that gives a slight touch that makes it different from plain black or grey bags. And when you lift the flap, the red stripes and velvety inside give feminine character to the bag. The straps are padded and comfortable so it is suitable to be used to carry school books. Absolutely gorgeous!Love the backpack the onky issue is that they must create more pocket, to find an item inside all the time is like win the lottery!
